Jonathan: Top 25 Bulgarian Questions You Need to Know - Lesson 19: What's wrong? in Bulgarian. In each lesson of this 25 part series, you'll master a common question for Bulgarian learners, and then learn how to answer it like a native. You'll learn how these key phrases work by breaking them down into each component. Then through repetition and new vocabulary, you'll expand your understanding of the question, its answers, and any variations.

Jonathan: In this lesson, you'll learn how to respond to the common question "What's wrong?" In Bulgarian this is
Iva: Какво има?
The first word in the question is
Iva: какво
Jonathan: meaning what in English.
Iva: (Slow, by syllable) какво
Jonathan: Listen again and repeat.
Iva: какво

Jonathan: This pattern of first introducing a word at natural speed, providing the translation, breaking it down, and then giving it again at natural speed will be repeated throughout the series. Try to speak aloud as often as possible. The next word in the question is
Iva: има
Jonathan: meaning something like there is.
Iva: (Slow, by syllable) има
Jonathan: Now repeat.
Iva: има

Jonathan: Listen to the entire question and repeat.

Jonathan: ★ Note that this is how you say “I’m tired” if you are a male person. If you are a female person, you would say

Jonathan: To use a different phrase, replace tired with worried.
Iva: разтревожен
Jonathan: worried
Iva: (slow) разтревожен (regular) разтревожен
Jonathan: Listen to the phrase again, this time with worried
Iva: разтревожен съм.
Jonathan: It mostly stays the same. Simply replace tired. Say I'm worried.

Jonathan: This is how you say “I’m worried” if you are a male person. If you are female person, you would say
Iva: [разтревожена]
Jonathan: To use a different phrase, replace worried with hungry.
Iva: гладен
Jonathan: hungry

Jonathan: Listen to the phrase again, this time with hungry
Iva: гладен съм.
Jonathan: It mostly stays the same. Simply replace the {lang} for worried. Say I'm hungry.

Jonathan: Imagine you're sick. Respond to the question.
