Tina,

Thank you for the advice. I will keep going through the lessons as usual. I will also try out the Pronunciation series that you recommended.

Hi Rohanns,

and congratulations for finishing the Intro series. You might want to move on to the Absolute Beginner lessons. In the Lesson Notes there, we start to progressively introduce grammar insights and more detailed explanations about useful phrases.

Bulgarian is generally claimed to be a phonetic language, i.e. you read what you see. You will learn about some very slight exceptions in the following lessons. For that reason, if you know how to read the letters, you would be able to read any word in Bulgarian. For this purpose, you might want to check out the Pronunciation lessons, where you will quickly learn how to read Bulgarian. We try to have all the new vocab and sample sentences in audio, and those you might find quite handy.

As for practicing your speaking skills, the only available option so far is within the Premium Plus package. There is a recording function available there, where you could leave or get a voice message from your teacher. At some point on, you might want to try it out. Till then, I believe it is a very good option if you just listen to the available audios and repeatedly speak up with them trying to emulate the pronunciation, tress and tone of the words and sentences. You have them read by a native speaker, some times even at a higher speak.

I hope all this makes sense and will be happy to see you in the next series :)

All the best,

Tina

Hey BulgarianPod101.com Team!

I am now done with the Survival Phrases series! It has been very helpful even though I haven't been able to put my Bulgarian skills to the test yet. I don't know anyone that speaks Bulgarian! :open_mouth:

So far the lessons have been me learning a few words to help deal with a specific situation when visiting Bulgaria. Right now, I can only say those phrases. In future lessons, will I learn how to form my own sentences with verbs and other parts of speech? Also, will I learn how to read basic Bulgarian? I ask because most of the example sentences in the Lesson Notes do not come with the romanization.

I have enjoyed learning Bulgarian and I hope to become fluent one day!

That's great! We are glad you enjoyed our series!

Have you tried our Absolute Beginner series already? It is a good way to start learning Bulgarian language more deeply.
