Lesson Transcript

Hi everyone! I’m Alisha.
Welcome to Conversational Phrases!
We’ve found that the best way to learn a language is to speak it from day one! And the best way to start speaking is to learn phrases that you’ll use in real conversations.
In this lesson, you’ll learn conversational phrases to ask and answer the question, "How do you say this?" After watching this video, you’ll be able to ask someone how a word is pronounced.
Now, let’s take a look at some conversational phrases!
Listen to the dialogue.
Как произнасяте това? (Kak proiznasyate tova?)
Това е "парко място". (Tova e "parko myasto".)
Once more with the English translation.
Как произнасяте това? (Kak proiznasyate tova?)
“How do you say this?”
Това е "парко място". (Tova e "parko myasto".)
"It's 'parking lot.'”
First of all you'll need to learn how to say “How do you say this?”
That's:
Как произнасяте това? (Kak proiznasyate tova?)
Listen to it again:
Как произнасяте това?, Как произнасяте това? (Kak proiznasyate tova?, Kak proiznasyate tova?)
This Bulgarian sentence means something like " How do you pronounce this? ” But it means “How do you say this?”
Now, how do you answer this question?
The pattern is:
Това е [ ]. (Tova e [ ].)
“It's [ ].”
For example:
"It's 'parking lot.'”
Това е "парко място"., Това е "парко място". (Tova e "parko myasto"., Tova e "parko myasto".)
